1 1/3 c All-purpose flour Chopped
1 ts Baking powder 1/2 c Nuts -- chopped
1/2 ts Salt Icing:
1 c Butter or margarine 1/4 c Butter or margarine --
1 c Cocoa powder Softened
4 ea Eggs -- beaten 1 ts Vanilla extract
2 c Sugar 2 c Confectioner's sugar
1 1/2 ts Vanilla extract 6 tb Cocoa powder
1 ts Almond extract 1/4 c Milk
1 c Maraschino cherries -- 1/4 c Nuts -- chopped
Combine flour, baking powder and salt; set aside. In a large
saucepan, melt butter. Remove from the heat and stir in cocoa until
smooth. Blend in eggs, sugar and extracts. Stir in flour mixture,
cherries and nuts. Pour into a greased 13x9x2 inch baking pan. bake
at 350 deg. for 35 min. or until brownies test done. For icing blend
butter, vanilla, sugar, cocoa and milk until smooth; spread over hot
brownies. Sprinkle with nuts. Cool . Yield: 3 doz.
