1/3 c Butter or margarine
2 tb Water
1 (6-ounce) package semisweet

3/4 c All-purpose flour
1/4 ts Baking soda
1/4 ts Salt
1 c Chopped pecans or walnuts
1 (6-ounce) package semisweet

Combine sugar, butter, and water in a medium saucepan; cook over high
heat, stirring frequently, until mixture comes to a boil. Remove from
heat. Add 1 package chocolate morsels and vanilla, stirring until
chocolate melts. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each
addition. Combine flour, soda, and salt; stir dry ingredients and 1
cup pec into chocolate mixture.Pour batter into a greased and floured
9-inch square pan. Bake at 325 degrees for 30 minutes. Cool on wire
rack. Cut into squares and serve plain, or sprinkle 1 package
chocolate morsels over hot brownies, if desired. Let stand until
morsels are softened; then spread evenly over brownies with a
spatula. Sprinkle 1/2 cup pecans on top, if desired. Let cool, and
cut into squares. Yield: 3 dozen.
